ABOUT ME

Essentially a writer, I wear a number of different hats, directing, and teaching among them.  The teaching hat is currently wearing a LAMTS insignia.  That’s the acronym for Los Angeles Musical Theater Studio, of which I am co-founder and instructor.  A handy link to that website:

Take a look around the LAMTS site.  If you’re in need of working on performance technique, brushing up audition songs, preparing for a role, or just want to work those muscles, jump into a class.

In Published Works you'll see my book, "Sour Notes", now available on Amazon & Kindle.

Recently I co-produced the CBS special, “Jump, Jive and Thrive”, a celebration of cancer survivorship.  In the show we refer to it as “thrivership”, tipping our hat to those who continue to have impactful lives, living them fully, even as they deal with the disease.  The thrivers on the show include hosts Scott Hamilton, Shannon Miller, both Olympic medalists, and Samantha Harris.  Also on board, Melissa Etheridge, Fran Drescher, Angie Everhart, Laurie Hernandez, Mark Ballas, B.C. Jean, and Lindsey Stirling.  All were delightful, and easy to work with.  Great music, great gymnastic performances, the live event was filmed at Pauley Pavillion at UCLA.  A real pleasure to have worked on, should be fun to watch.  The air date is Saturday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time.  Add an hour for each time zone heading East, so 1:00 p.m. in New York.

You’ll also find a link to a blog on this site.  Mostly a commentary on theater and performance, my take on what’s happening in the art.  And the continued search for excellence.

I also served as associate producer on a series of albums of rarely recorded theater and film music from the early part of the 20th century on the Shadowland lable. Titles include “Sing Before Breakfast”, and “Life’s A Funny Present.”  These are currently out of print...

I have a BS in Speech/Theater from Northwestern University, studied at the Wharton school, studied dance with Fred Kelly (Gene’s brother), and acting with Stella Adler and the HB school in New York.
